Final Project: Treatment
Treatment:
My project will be fairly experimental without much of a narrative thread to follow. I’ll mostly try to put interesting images on screen. There is to be no dialogue, but only garbled radio transmissions.
It begins with a man walking alone. He looks up at the sky. He is immediately, from one cut to the next, turned into an astronaut being launched into space, in a close up of his helmet . He approaches a large, membranous planet. He is afraid and hesitates. When he attempts to make contact with Earth, the radio is dead. He looks through a porthole in the ship toward the planet.
He breaks the atmosphere and lands. When he steps onto the planet, a flash of him on Earth appears and disappears. Disoriented, he continues to explore. He finds an abandoned outpost from the previous team’s mission. As he steps towards it he gets more and more flashes of him on Earth, in his astronaut outfit, inhabiting some desolate city.
The outpost is gone and replaced by a brain in a jar; connect to several electrical outputs by wires.
The man stands on Earth, looking down at a fruit bowl in a shot matching the previous one of him looking down at the brain.
He looks up at the sky.
He looks up at the sky.
